April 2, 2012:
The province of Quebec has implemented a new simplified Labour Market Opinion (LMO) process. The new process no longer requires employers hiring foreign workers to provide proof of recruitment efforts in 44 occupations in a variety of fields.
This news is of particular interest for employers that were using the now defunct IT Worker Program. The seven information technology occupations that were previously included in the IT Worker Program are among the list of occupations eligible for the simplified LMO process.
More detailed information on the program can be found in the Fasken Martineau report issued late last week.
